Fix Ctrl+Left/Ctrl+Right in Firefox/Mozilla Apps in linux
The key: layout.word_select.stop_at_punctuation needs to be set to true in about:config
I was just playing with the new Firefox beta and it reverted some of my custom configuration (yeah I made a backup, sheesh). I noticed because my addressbar had reverted in behaviour.
One that I use constantly is the action of hitting Ctrl+left or Ctrl+right in the addressbar and have it stop at punctuation. Combine this with shift and you select ‘words’ at a time. I hate either having to retype part of a url or having to take my hands off the keyboard.
For example:
To go from
http://www.example.com/some/url/here?woopwoop
to just
http://www.example.com/
I just: alt+d, end, ctrl+shift+(left,left,left,left), del
Might look like a bunch but it’s quite fast.
I remember searching for this many moons ago without any luck. Several months back the queries had better results (or maybe the queries were better) and I found it.

Apparently on Unix and OS2 it defaults off… not sure why that decision was made.
P.S. This also works in Komodo (and other mozilla-based apps) -> launch about:config in Komodo.
Cheers!
